Eighty-six percent of China Mobile’s (NYSE: CHL, 941.HK) TD-SCDMA trial users are unwilling to buy TD-SCDMA terminals under current terminal, network and service conditions, reports Digital Times citing National Bureau of Statistics research conducted among 3,000 randomly selected TD-SCDMA users over an unspecified time period. Respondents were most dissatisfied with the TD-SCDMA network when choosing between network, service, handsets (phones) and wireless Internet access cards as a source of dissatisfaction, said the report. Sources said some TD-SCDMA terminals have repair rates as high as 12% and 20%. China had 300,000 TD-SCDMA users by October, and China Mobile, the only operator of China’s homegrown 3G network, is targeting 400,000 TD-SCDMA users by year end.
