Really good opening!..

I only managed to see the opening 10 minutes and then the last 10 minutes of the ending and it was amazing just to watch that. I love China, sometimes I wonder what would have happened if I had stayed there when I was younger.
I would have learnt Chinese for one thing!:)
Wow. Great pics. 2 years of practice…the participants nailed it. The costumes were beautiful, the women graceful. It was touching to watch the boy who survived the earth quake walking with Yao Ming. Ming kept brushing the Chinese flag on him; it was cute. Sierra Leone was there representing too! =)

4 those who love football
I was blown away by the opening ceremony (though I only caught the last half hour). I was so impressed I stayed all the way through the whole nation roll call thing (which is good, because the torch-lighting was awesome, too, in a “wouldn’t it be something if he dropped it?” way). Anyway I don’t know why NBC isn’t letting the youtube videos stand. Wtf, are they rerunning this at some point? Is it anywhere on their website? What money could they possibly lose letting the ceremony be on youtube?? Whatever.
[...] You missed the most spectacular Olympic opening ceremonies ever? How sad. Well, this blogger has a great post (with video) here. $300 million and 15,000 Chinese put on one amazing show. Even [...]
I only saw a few minutes whilst in the airport, so thank you for compiling in this post! From what I saw it looked amazing… can’t wait to take another look.
Unlike most, I made a effort an blocked off the time to view prehaps the most anticipated event in the last 10 or so years.
I hope this really opens the eyes of many people around the world too the true capability of the Chinese. and of course $300 Million….
The one scene that did me in. The boxes appearing to be controlled by graphic mechanics to produce shapes and images we normally see digitally. At the end, flowers and the faces appeared from underneath to show a human factor. That alone knocked me out.
The dedication and training in that sequence should send a message too any industrial market on the planet, they have a work force.
They ceremonies were scary too. They stunk of military. Especially the drums in the beginning.
Boo to NBC for removing the youtube videos!
Thank you! The Opening Ceremonies were so hopeful and such an amazing feat. The Chinese are a beautiful and very intriguing, dedicated people and — after all — they are only people.
I was thrilled and I love the Olympics because it allows us to create a hopeful reality–we create our reality, it may as well be wonderful.
Thank you,
Fawn (not asian) Chang

FWIW … a few thoughts
* Constancy of purpose (remember this one)
* Visualize and dream big
* Inner drive (you either have it or not)
* Learn from every defeat and it will be a stepping stone to a future victory
* Respect your opponent (never trash talk or brag) and sport
* Listen to your coaches and parents
* Train, train, train … the more you work the luckier you’ll get
Li Ning performance was the best moment for me.
